PROJECT SILVER LINING

Project Silver Lining is a new multi-disciplinary project incorporating yoga, film and visual arts to reach at-risk youth that aims to be a useful tool in boosting graduation rates as well as violence prevention. It is adaptable to elementary, middle and high school classes.

The first prototype of this program was funded by the Mildred Greene Fund of the Jewish Community Foundation at Oscar de la Hoya Animo Charter High School. It produced a major mural on social justice which is installed at the entry to the school at the World Trade Center downtown. In summer 2006 Project Silver Lining was featured as part of the Irmas International Teen Media Summit at Cleveland High School where it was a memorable part of an extraordinary program - with 66 students from 28 countries participating. The students worked in teams to produce banners in response to their workshop experience. This program has also been successfully produced at an elementary school. The children created special books sent to the children depicted in the movie who labor in silver mines of Bolivia.
